"Our Christmas Vacation: The 12 hour drive was exhausting, so it was a pleasure to find a perfect home away from home! Thank God we got in before dark or we would have never found our way! The seclusion is perfect! Our first day we walked down to visit the neighborhood horse, the kids loved running with her. After the walk back up the hill (or should I say mountain) we all enjoyed the hot tub! Bryson City reminded me of my childhood in eastern Iowa, where everyone knows everything and everybody. You won't find that in the big city. Your maps and "things to do" led us into Deep Creek terriotory. I haven't laughed so much! The map made the trails look "SO SHORT." The 3 falls were the short trips! We didn't see anybody for at least an hour and were beginning to wonder if we had taken a wrong turn. What a great work out, who needs the gym! "What a wonderful, beautiful place! When it comes to cabin getaways, you have a jewel. From our first impression as we stepped through the doorway to the sad goodbye as we close the door for the final time, we found ourselves with the word "Wow" on our lips. The cabin was clean, comfortable and equipped with everything we needed for a pleasant stay and more. The view through the picture window was breathtaking. We often commented about how it looked like something we would want to frame. We were all smitten by the mist on the mountain on Monday morning. Special effects could never do it justice. Bryson City is a cute small-town-America place and we enjoyed that aspect of our visit. The Railfest was a lot of fun and the touch of Americana we city-dwellers needed. The nearness of the Deep Creek entrance to Smoky Mountains National Park lured us into an "Adventurous" day on a hiking trail. We flatlanders have a new appreciation for the saying, "What goes up (and up, and up!) Must (we hope!) Come Down." A great day, nevertheless. Wanting to experience a bit more of the Smokies, we drove through the heart on US441. We checked out Clingman's Dome, climbed up to the top of the tower and stood amazed at the panorama before us. After this, we continued on to have a fun day in Gatlinburg ending the day at the Dixie Stampede in Pigeon Forge. What a Hoot! Our last day was spent at the cabin enjoying the ambiance one last time. Please accept our deepest thanks for your hospitality. We, myself, my wife JoAnn, and daughter Brittany want to thank you for letting us use your computer when Brittany needed to submit school work. Having the hot tub on the porch was a big plus for us. It was so convenient to just step out the door and into the wonderful warm water with the crisp winter air surrounding us. We had not been to the Smokey Mountains during the winter months; therefore didn't know what to expect. Much to our surprise, it was more than we could have hoped for. The cabin was inviting and ready with everything we needed. A warm fire at night was always a great close for our fun filled days.
